Don't be overly aggressive the first year. Simply put, the more time you invest with your children, the more they will get out of it no matter what curriculum you use.

Home schooling can be very flexible and should be, but it takes some discipline to get things accomplished. A checklist or schedule or some other form of organizational tool can be a big help. But don't let the schedule control you. It is a tool. You can change the schedule at any time. Many of the best educational opportunities are unplanned.
