Getting Started - Check List
Check List:
Don't go it along. Find others that you can talk to, get ideas from, and mutually support each other. Often there are discounts for members of a local support group. Check out the Texas Home School Coalition site before doing this. Don't be overly aggressive the first year. Simply put, the more time you invest with your children, the more they will get out of it no matter what curriculum you use. This can be as simple as a math program and weekly trips to the library. Home schooling can be very flexible and should be, but it takes some discipline to get things accomplished. A checklist or schedule or some other form of organizational tool can be a big help. But don't let the schedule control you. It is a tool. You can change the schedule at any time. Many of the best educational opportunities are unplanned. One of the most satisfying aspects of home schooling is that it can be lots of fun for both the parents and the children while real, lasting learning takes place. We think that home schooling is the optimul opportunity for family at its best.
